A conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency, the Turkmen manat, was held at the Senagat Joint-Stock Commercial Bank in Ashgabat. The participants reviewed topical issues of modernizing the banking system in modern conditions, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Experts from the financial and banking spheres made presentations on ways to achieve economic growth, develop international investment cooperation, and improve monetary mechanisms. Special attention was paid to banking technologies and cybersecurity.
It was noted that to improve the well-being of citizens in Turkmenistan, preferential mortgage lending is expanding and financial services are being improved. Digital technologies are being actively introduced into the banking sector.
Digitalization permits to expand the range of services for customers, improve their quality, and reduce settlement time. Thanks to the use of various types of bank cards, the national currency actively functions in a digital format. This opened up new prospects for money circulation.
The participants emphasized the importance of the ongoing socially oriented economic strategy and work to integrate Turkmenistan into the global financial system.
The Turkmen manat was introduced into circulation on November 1, 1993. It has become not only a financial attribute, but also a symbol of the independence of Turkmenistan. The national currency played a key role in ensuring stability and confident development of the country.
