The international film festival “Dawn of Arkadag” started at the State Drama Theater named after Aman Gulmammedov, which brought together filmmakers from Central Asia and other countries of the world, the Watan information program reported.
Turkmen filmmakers, as well as their colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, were the first to appear on the “red carpet” in front of the theater in the city of Arkadag.
Among the special guests of the festival are Turkish cinema star Burak Ozcivit, known for his roles in the TV series “Magnificent Century” and “Foundation: Osman”, screenwriter, producer and director Mehmet Bozdağ, as well as French actor Edouard Montut, who played in the popular films “Taxi” and "Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra."
Turkmenistan presents at the film festival the film Istärin, produced by the film studio of the Turkmenfilm association named after Oguzhan. The historical film is dedicated to the era and work of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.
The opening of the festival was marked by a welcoming speech from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who emphasized that the main goal of the event is to improve and develop international cooperation in the field of cinema, as well as to present the city of Arkadag to the world community.
