Apple will still transfer the new iPhone 15 to USB-C charging connectors instead of Lightning, Bloomberg reported.
Despite Apple's refusal to release smartphones with USB-C connectors for many years, new models of iconic smartphones will be equipped with them thanks to a new EU law requiring all mobile phone manufacturers to switch to a single type of charger by the end of 2024. This law, according to its creators, is aimed at reducing waste and saving consumers money.
Some of the benefits of this change include:
- it will be possible to use one charging cable for iPhone, Mac and iPad;
- data transfer speed will increase for new high-end iPhone models;
- smartphones in some cases will charge faster;
- Phones will be compatible with chargers used by most of the world's population.
