Arkadag was awarded an OSCE certificate on joining the project of climate-friendly cities

The city of Arkadag was awarded a certificate of joining the project "Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the region of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe." The corresponding document was handed over to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov today by the OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid, the website of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan reports.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that this fact is a confirmation of the successful summing up of efforts in the field of ecology, focused on specific results.

The city of Arkadag, which will house approximately 70 000 people, is being built on an area of 950 hectares, 30 kilometers southwest of the Turkmen capital. “Smart” residential buildings controlled via a smartphone, a square with a flagpole, buildings of the hakimlik and other institutions have been built here.

The construction of this mega-project was started in 2019.

On March 24, 2023, a new Law of Turkmenistan came into force, according to which a special legal status is assigned to the city of Arkadag - a city of state importance.
