A seminar “Principles of interaction between national human rights institutions and law enforcement agencies” was held in the UN building in Ashgabat.

A Seminar was organized by within the framework of the joint project “Improving the institutional capacity of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan” executed by the Office of the Ombudsman and the UN Development Program.

The seminar was held for representatives of the capital and velayat law enforcement agencies and bar associations. Participants from the regions joined the discussions in an online format.

The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the participants with international norms and principles on the interaction of national human rights and law enforcement agencies.

During the seminar, such topics as “Legal basis for interaction between the Ombudsman's Office and law enforcement agencies” and “International principles relating to the independence of the judiciary, the role of lawyers and law enforcement officials” were covered.

In the following discussions, the workshop participants reviewed the legislative, administrative and other recommendations of experts on the topics covered, the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” edition reports with the reference to the website of the Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan.
