Pakistan is committed to the timely completion of the TAPI gas pipeline project. The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif reported about this in the congratulatory message of on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan, addressed to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

“Pakistan wishes to expand its bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan in all areas of interest, especially in joint projects in the field of energy and communications. We are committed to the timely completion of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. I am confident that thanks to our joint efforts, we will be able to further deepen the ties of friendship and cooperation”, Shahbaz Sharif said in a letter, the text of which was read today in the “Watan” news program of the Turkmen television.

The TAPI gas pipeline with a length of 1814 kilometers and a capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year should run from the Turkmen “Galkynysh” field through the Afghan cities of Herat and Kandahar, the Pakistani Quetta and Multan to the city of Fazilka in western India. On the Turkmen section, construction began in December 2015, and in February 2018, the Afghan section of the gas pipeline was laid.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 8-10 billion USD.
