Athletes of the national team of Turkmenistan took the final second place in the medal count of the IV Open Championship of Central Asia in athletics in Samarkand.
They have 3 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, reports “Halk suzi”.
The first place was taken by Uzbekistan (25 gold, 27 silver and 27 bronze medals). The third position was taken by the national team of Kyrgyzstan (3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals).
In total, within the framework of international competitions 56 sets of awards in 41 athletics disciplines were played.
Gold in the team of Turkmenistan was won by Valentina Meredova in the 100m (12,12 seconds), Mergen Mamedov in the hammer throw (69,10m) and Maksat Mammedov in the shot put (16,08m). Maksat Mammedov also won another medal - silver - in the discus throw (52,41 m). In addition to him, two silver medals were won by the men's and women's teams in the 4x100 meters and 4x400 meters relay races. In the first relay, the men showed the time – 42,70 seconds, and in the second - 3 minutes 19,92 seconds. The results of women, respectively, are 49,23 seconds and 4 minutes 05,60 seconds.
Bronze medals were awarded to Jennet Muhamova in the javelin throw (49,89 m), Alisher Sadullayev in the 100-meter run (10,80 seconds) and Bagrat Gasanbekov in the long jump (7,60 m).
