The national team of Turkmenistan arrived in Rome (Italy) to participate in the world championship among cadets (U17) in wrestling. The championship will be held in the Italian capital from 25 to 31 July.
Greco-Roman wrestlers will be the first to compete for medals. At the current championship of the planet, young athletes will compete for awards in ten weight categories: 45, 48, 51, 55, 60, 65, 71, 80, 92 and 110 kg.
Two Turkmen wrestlers will compete in Greco-Roman wrestling: Shatlyk Yunusov (up to 60 kg) and Kakabay Kakabayev (up to 65 kg).
Turkmenistan will be represented at the freestyle wrestling tournament by: Azimberdi Ashirkuliev (weight category up to 45 kg), Ismail Muhammedov (up to 55 kg), Alp Arslan Begenjov (up to 65 kg) and Parahat Atayev (up to 80 kg).
Before the international tournament, Turkmen athletes held training camps in Azerbaijan.
Let us remind that following the results of the Asian Wrestling Championship among cadets under 17 in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Turkmen athletes won four medals: one gold and three bronze. Alp Arslan Begenjov won the highest award in freestyle wrestling, Azimberdi Ashirkuliev and Parahat Atayev won bronze, and Kakabay Kakabayev won bronze in Greco-Roman wrestling.
