Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation will continue close cooperation in the Caspian Sea in both bilateral and multilateral formats. This was stated by Serdar Berdimuhamedov following talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow during his first official foreign visit as President of Turkmenistan, the Kremlin's Press Service reports.
"We highly appreciate Russia's active participation in the work of the summits of the Caspian states, its contribution to the achievement of key agreements," Berdimuhamedov said.
The topic of strengthening cooperation in the Caspian Sea region was one of the important talks between the leaders of the two countries.
As Vladimir Putin stressed, Russia and Turkmenistan attach great importance to joint work with the Caspian states in the field of ensuring security, deepening economic partnership, preserving natural resources and maintaining environmental well-being.
Currently, active preparations are underway to hold the next, sixth Caspian Summit in Ashgabat, as well as the second Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov is visiting Russia as the head of state for the first time since taking office as President of Turkmenistan on March 19, 2022. This is his first official foreign visit.
