Equipment for determining the level of salinity, nutrients and soil composition, and also for evaluating the effectiveness of desalinization and land reclamation measures was received by the Turkmen Agricultural Institute in the city of Dashoguz and its structural agricultural research and production center based in Anau.
As informs ashgabat.in, all soil scientists and teachers of the university received a set of various devices for quick analysis of soil, water and plants (11 items in total). This is an agricultural mobile laboratory complex in a case, a knapsack soil laboratory, a pH meter, an anemometer, a manual nitrogen measurement sensor, a soil thermometer, grain and soil moisture meters, a penetrometer, a lysimeter, a tensiometer - each in the amount of 1-3 pieces.
Mobile devices are designed for conducting research directly in the field when organizing soil, agrochemical, reclamation surveys of land, monitoring the state of the salt regime of soils, assessing the fertile layer, and during research work.
The purchase of equipment was carried out within the framework of a regional project by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the country participant of which is the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of the implementation of the project “Integrated management of natural resources in drought-prone and saline agricultural production landscapes of Central Asia and Turkey” (CACILM-2), a set of measures is being implemented in the Dashoguz velayat aimed at reducing the level of salinization of agricultural land and introducing salt-tolerant crops into crop rotation.
