During an online meeting of specialists from the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan and the State Museum of the History of the Timurids of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the two museums developed by the Uzbek side was considered. This was reported by the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
Discussing the draft Memorandum, both sides expressed their understanding of the importance of exchanging information about research work and publications directly related to the fund collections. They also noted the possibility of holding thematic exhibitions and mutual visits of specialists to transfer experience in the field of preservation and restoration of museum values.
The topic of the online meeting was “Study and restoration of the values and monuments of the Timurid era”, and the Uzbek scientists who spoke during it spoke in detail about the activities of their museum, considering the issues of exhibits and principles for the formation of its funds, scientific research, archaeological research related to the problems of studying the era Timurids.
They also announced the publication of the first book prepared by the museum staff - a bibliography of printed works related to the name of Emir Timur. It was published in several languages at once, and this collection includes more than five thousand titles: dissertations, monographs and articles.
The Uzbek specialists expressed their desire to get acquainted with the historical exhibits of the Timurid era stored in the State Museum of Turkmenistan, as well as the publications of modern Turkmen researchers on this period.
Employees of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, in turn, spoke about the fact that the preservation of monuments of spiritual and material culture has become one of the priorities of state policy in the country. The most important document is the Law of Turkmenistan “On protection of objects of national historical and cultural heritage” adopted on October 19, 2012. During the reign of the Timurids, significant areas of the territory of Turkmenistan fell into the sphere of influence of this dynasty, therefore, the well-known monuments of the material culture of the 15th century are directly related to the names of its representatives. Timur attracted talented craftsmen to town planning, and the Ak-Saray palace in Kesh was also built by craftsmen, who came from Konye-Urgench.
Monumental construction was also carried out in the medieval cities of Turkmenistan in the Timurid era. On the territory of Merv there are monuments erected at that time - Abdullahan-kala and Bayramalihan-kala, a snow storage and parts of the architectural ensemble at the burial places of the Ashabs.
Specialists of the Turkmen museum emphasized the importance of studying the material culture monuments of the Timurid era, which will help restore the most interesting pages in the history of Central Asia and understand the general direction of the evolution of architecture and fine arts of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which developed in the orbit of the Muslim East and experienced a true renaissance in the Timurid era
