Vice - Premier of Turkmenistan held talks in Bishkek with the Head of the Government of Kyrgyzstan

The creation of a joint Turkmen-Kyrgyz Fund, as well as interaction in the transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian areas, was discussed with the head of the Government of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, who is on a working visit to Bishkek, Vice - Premier of Turkmenistan Chary Gylyjov. The meeting was held within the framework of the first economic forum “European Union - Central Asia”, held on November 5 in Bishkek.

“I am pleased to note the wide potential of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, including in the field of energy and transport. The Kyrgyz Republic is always open for cooperation with investors from Turkmenistan and joint efforts to increase mutual trade,” A.Japarov said.

In turn, the Turkmen side noted that the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to Turkmenistan this year gave new dynamics and impetus to the development of Turkmen-Kyrgyz cooperation and strengthening of economic, cultural and friendly ties.

During the talks, the parties discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in the energy sector. In particular, A.Japarov noted the importance of the ongoing supplies of Turkmen electricity to Kyrgyzstan, along with the prospects for the supply of Turkmen natural gas.

The Bishkek Economic Forum “EU - Central Asia” was dedicated to the development of cooperation between regions in the areas of digitalization, improving the business environment and green economy. It was attended by high-ranking delegations from different countries, representatives of international financial organizations, as well as the private sector and civil society, according to the Kyrgyz Internet publication Tazabek.
