The evening in memory of the outstanding Turkmen poet Gurbannazar Ezizov, who would have turned 80 this year, was held in the Assembly hall of the International University of Humanities and development, "Turkmenistan: Golden age" reports.
It is no accident that this University was chosen as the venue for the event: the poet's granddaughter, Aytach Orazova, works here as an English teacher. She suggested that the IUHD administration organize a meeting of students with famous writers, artists and scientists – contemporaries and friends of the poet.
The event gave representatives of the younger generation a unique opportunity to discover the work of the lyric poet, humanist and patriot, to realize the huge impact of his literary heritage on the development of Turkmen poetry as a whole.
People's artist of Turkmenistan Gulyalek Akmuradova, who not only represented each of the participants, but also recited poems by Gurbannazar Ezizov, acted as the host of the musical and poetic meeting.
Ezizov's contemporaries-writers, artists, musicians, and scientists-shared their memories of the poet, who lived a short but dazzlingly bright life.
During the event, songs based on the poet's poems written by Nury Halmamedov, Rejep Rejepov, and Danatar Hydyrov were performed.
