On April 25, 2020, an international beauty contest of Akhal-Teke horses will be held in Ashgabat on the occasion of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse. The corresponding Order was signed today by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.

According to the document, this day will also host a creative competition "On the artistic embodiment of the beauty of horses in works of fine and decorative arts, printed products, photographs and TV channels".

The document approved the composition of the jury for the above-mentioned competitions.

The competition for the best Akhal-Teke was established in 2009 in order to preserve the ancient types of thoroughbred horses that are the national pride of the Turkmen people, improve their beauty and appearance, and further increase the world fame of Paradise horses. Since 2011, it has gained international status.

The owner of the most beautiful Akhal-Teke of the year is usually awarded a premium car by the President of Turkmenistan, and the winners of creative competitions receive cash prizes.

Turkmen scientists believe that the Akhal-Teke breed was bred on the territory of modern Turkmenistan about 3,500 years ago. In Turkmenistan, Akhal-Teke horses are considered a national treasure, as evidenced by the fact that the state emblem of the country depicts a horse of this breed.
