Turkmen chess players successfully performed at the “Russian Chess Crown” festival

The Turkmenistan Chess Team represented the country with distinction at the "Russian Chess Crown" international festival, held from February 17 to 28 in the Moscow region. This was reported by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan.

The tournament, organized by the Moscow Region Chess Federation under the leadership of Russian Senator and International Grandmaster Sergey Karjakin, attracted approximately 500 participants from more than 20 countries. The Turkmenistan team participated by special invitation.

Among the Turkmen delegation's most notable achievements was FIDE Women's Candidate Master Leyla Shohradova (rated 2183), who took fifth place among women in the "A" classical chess tournament. She finished half a point short of achieving the International Master standard. In the "D" tournament, Mahri Agamuradova (rated 1926) took first place among women, and Jahan Rejepova (rated 2051) finished third among the U16 blitz players in the "C" tournament.

FIDE Woman Master Lala Shokhradova (rating 2110) gained 22 rating points following the competition.

On the men's team, International Grandmaster Meylis Annaberdiev (rating 2424) finished 17th in the highly competitive "A" tournament. FIDE Master Amanmuhammet Hommadov (rating 2269) improved his rating by 31.4 points, and Vepaly Halynyazov (rating 2195) by 35.8 points.

The classical chess competition was held according to the Swiss system in 10 rounds with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.
