Turkmenistan Releases MICS7 Survey Findings Report: A Step Forward for Children’s Data

The State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, in collaboration with UNICEF, has released the findings of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7), providing the most comprehensive and reliable data on the situation of children in Turkmenistan. The survey marks a significant milestone in Turkmenistan’s long-standing participation in the global MICS programme, which has been implemented in five previous rounds since 1995.

The MICS7 survey, initiated in 2022, included extensive preparations and training, followed by nationwide data collection in 2024 and subsequent analysis and reporting in 2024–2025. It reflects years of sustained effort and cooperation between the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan and UNICEF, establishing the most important source of data on children and women in Turkmenistan.

The survey results provide essential insights into children’s health, nutrition, education, protection, and well-being, supporting evidence-based policymaking and programming at both national and local levels. This information will guide government decision-making, help prioritize interventions, and inform ongoing efforts to strengthen systems for child rights and development.

The release of the MICS7 findings demonstrates the value of consistent investment in quality, partnership, and technical excellence, ensuring that data is both of high quality and actionable. With national stakeholders increasingly leading the process, the survey sets a strong foundation for future rounds, including MICS8 and MICS Plus, further reinforcing Turkmenistan’s commitment to monitoring and improving children’s lives.

The 2024 Turkmenistan Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7) was supported by the European Union and UNFPA in Turkmenistan. The report and snapshots could be found here Surveys | UNICEF MICS.
