Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with US Ambassador to Ashgabat Elizabeth Rood, during which the two sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry's press service reported.
"The parties discussed in detail current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres," the statement said.
The effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, in particular the annual political consultations and meetings of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council, was noted.
The parties particularly emphasized the effectiveness of American companies' long-standing activities in Turkmenistan and the implementation of joint business contracts in the fields of electric power, agriculture, and transportation. Among the companies mentioned were John Deere, General Electric, and Boeing.
The diplomats discussed the possibility of creating new forms of cooperation with a focus on education, science, and culture. The Turkmen side proposed an initiative to establish a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue.
Furthermore, they exchanged views on developing cooperation in high technology and the banking and financial sector.
