The traditional lighting ceremony of the country's main New Year's tree took place in the capital of Turkmenistan, marking the beginning of the New Year's festivities. This was reported by the "Watan" news program on Turkmen television.
In keeping with established tradition, the central venue for the celebrations was the area in front of the Alem cultural and entertainment center, located at the foot of the Kopetdag Mountains. A tall green Christmas tree was erected there, creating a magical festive atmosphere around it.
The ceremony was attended by numerous residents and visitors of the capital, children and adults, folk and dance groups, circus and theater performers in festive costumes, and fairy tale characters. The tree was decorated with multicolored lights, and the audience eagerly awaited the performances.
The culmination of the celebration was the lighting of the Christmas tree with Ayazbaba's magic staff, at the request of the children. At the same time, the New Year's trees installed in the central squares of cities across the country simultaneously lit up with festive illuminations.
The regions also hosted mass festive performances, music, and songs, while children danced in circles around the New Year's trees.
