The Turkmenistan national youth football team (U17) will begin its 2026 AFC Asian Cup qualifying round on Saturday, November 22.
Head coach Ahmet Allaberdyev's team will play their opening match against Kuwait. The match will take place in Chonburi, Thailand, and kicks off at 13:30 Ashgabat time.
Thirty-eight national teams, divided into seven groups, are participating in the U-17 Asian Cup qualifying round. Qualifying matches in all groups will be held in a single round-robin format from November 22 to 30.
The group winners will advance to the final stage of the tournament, which will take place from May 7 to 24, 2026, in Saudi Arabia. They will join nine teams that have already qualified: Qatar, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.
Earlier, in May of this year, the Turkmen football team won bronze at the CAFA U-17 Cup, defeating Kyrgyzstan in the third-place match (0-0, 7-6 on penalties).
