At the end of September, foreign scientists arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan as part of international cooperation to study the species diversity of bats found in the Kopetdag and Gaplangyr State Nature Reserves. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
On September 29–30, bat observations were conducted in the Gökdere and Archabil directions. Ten bat species were captured over two days. Among them, new information was obtained about the Chuli bat (Myotis tschuliensis), listed in the Red Data Book of Turkmenistan, which pleased the specialists, who had not encountered it in previous studies for a long time.
Six specimens of the Pallid Bat (Miniopterus pallidus), listed in the Red Book, were also found in Gökdere. During research conducted in the Archabil region, one species of bat, the Greater Horseshoe Bat (Rhinoptera ferrumequinum), was recorded.

Scientists from the Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity, the German Museum of Nature and History Friedrich Erwin Meyer, Hans Diez Christian, and Marc Oliver Rodel, a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University (Turkey) Emrah Koraman, and a specialist from the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Maria Gritsina contributed to the collection of scientific data on the fauna of Turkmenistan, especially on bat species.
As the source notes, in 2019, observations were conducted in the Balkan and Ahal velayats to study the morphological structure and ecology of bats, involving Turkmen specialists and scientists from Germany and Turkey. During a working visit to the Kopetdag State Nature Reserve and adjacent territories in April-May 2024, the specialists conducted observations in various landscapes and collected information on a total of 16 species.
