On September 22, 2025, in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of the international community aimed at strengthening cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian spheres, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
During talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, prospects for developing Turkmen-Cuban relations were discussed, including cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, sports, and tourism. The parties confirmed their readiness to intensify cooperation within international organizations.
During a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries and Small Island States, Rabab Fatima, the parties noted Turkmenistan's long-standing experience of strategic cooperation with the UN system. Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the outcomes of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Countries (LLDC3), including the Avaza Political Declaration and Programme of Action for 2024–2034.
During a conversation with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, issues of preventive diplomacy and strengthening international trust were discussed, including the activities of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and Turkmenistan's initiatives dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.
In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. The discussion focused on economic cooperation, investment and technology projects, and the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council in expanding business contacts between the countries.
A series of meetings at the General Assembly confirms Turkmenistan's commitment to actively participate in the global agenda, strengthen international partnerships, and promote initiatives in the areas of sustainable development, peace, and security.
