An interdepartmental meeting was held in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of ministries and departments, academic and business circles, and specialists in investment in mitigation and adaptation to climate change in the agro-industrial sector of the economy of Turkmenistan.
As reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age, this is the second meeting within the framework of a project launched this year to improve Turkmenistan’s position in the field of climate finance, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Global Environment Facility.
During the meeting, FAO experts from Armenia, Vietnam and Macedonia delivered lectures. They presented co-financing structures with the participation of several parties, specific examples of injections and approximate efficiency coefficient of such activities.
Those gathered held discussions, exchanged opinions, consulted with experts, and compiled reviews of the proposed elements of the structure for attracting climate grant and loan money from international funds, private sources, and public financial institutions, as well as institutional mechanisms for the national digital instrument for monitoring the mobilization and expenditure of finance.
The moderators of the meeting pointed out the importance of involving private businesses and farmers in the movement of greening, acclimatization and adaptation of agricultural processes, organizing the work of enterprises, gardening and melon growing in line with increased financing. That is, to work in such a way as to contribute to the piggy bank of implemented climate solutions, including taking advantage of the opportunity to receive subsidies, the source notes.
