Acting Rector of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, Doctor of Art History, Honored Artist of Russia, Professor A. Sokolov sent greetings to the participants and guests of the Russian-Turkmen concert “Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood”.
Below is the text of the welcoming address.
“Dear ladies and gentlemen!
I am pleased to welcome you to the Russian-Turkmen concert "Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood", which is being held as part of the XIX International Music Festival of the Moscow Conservatory "Gathering Friends". I thank the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation and the "Sounds of Dutar" foundation for their joint work in organizing this evening.
The concert is of particular importance, as 2025 has been declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia and marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In addition, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The name of the concert is inspired by the book by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood", which tells the story of the legendary storyteller Shukur-bagshy. Instead of war, he offered the enemies of his Fatherland a musical competition and won it.
Let this image, reflecting the desire for peace, unite the musicians and the concert audience!
During the Soviet era, the story of Shukur-Bagshy was filmed at the "Turkmenfilm" studio. The music for the film was created by Nury Halmamedov, who was a student at the Moscow Conservatory at the time. Today, the name of this outstanding composer is one of the important links connecting the cultures of our peoples.
Along with Halmamedov’s music, works by other outstanding composers – natives of Turkmenistan and heirs of the Russian school – will be performed.
We are looking forward with interest to world premieres of music created in the “forties-fatal” by masters of Moscow and Leningrad, among whom the name of Alexander Mosolov should be mentioned first and foremost.
Let the music of our nations forever remain a universal language that strengthens friendship, reminds us of the importance of peace and trust!
I wish you a wonderful evening and unforgettable impressions."
Let us remind that on August 15, a ceremonial Russian-Turkmen concert will be held in the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, dedicated to two significant dates: the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the International Year of Peace and Trust. Before the concert, a lecture will be held on the topic "Small and Big Motherland in the Works of Russian and Turkmen Composers of the XX Century."
