Indian-Turkmen trade has significant potential for development, especially in the area of tea and other food products, Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat said in an interview with Turkmenportal at the Indian Tea Festival in Ashgabat.
“Our bilateral trade is progressing well, but there is still a lot of potential, especially for products like tea,” the diplomat said. She reminded last year’s Mango Festival and other Indian products, emphasizing India’s readiness to expand trade cooperation.
According to the ambassador, the main goal of the festival is to attract the attention of Turkmen entrepreneurs to the diversity of Indian tea varieties, which are popular not only in Turkmenistan but also throughout the world. "The potential in this area is very large. We want more and more sellers to be able to bring Indian tea to Turkmenistan," Bhagat emphasized.
The diplomat particularly noted the importance of the recent Central Asia-India Forum, held on June 5-6 with the participation of foreign ministers and business representatives. “This was a very good step towards strengthening our bilateral trade,” she said.
Let us remind that on Monday, Ashgabat hosted an Indian tea festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the famous Assam tea. The event was organized by the Indian Embassy in Turkmenistan. Guests were introduced to various types of Indian tea, tasted national cuisine and enjoyed a traditional dance program.
