National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and French President Emmanuel Macron held talks at the Elysee Palace, where they discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation. This was reported by TDH.
During the meeting in a narrow format, Emmanuel Macron noted France's interest in expanding relations with Turkmenistan as a strategic partner and highly appreciated the peaceful foreign policy of the neutral state. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, emphasized the effectiveness of the interstate dialogue, which is built on the principles of friendship and mutual understanding.
Particular attention was paid to issues of trade and economic cooperation, where the interlocutors noted the presence of broad opportunities for taking relations to a qualitatively new level. The oil and gas complex, satellite communications technologies, transport, construction, water resources, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and agriculture were named as promising areas.
During the business meeting in the format of a dinner, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty conveyed greetings from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Emmanuel Macron and expressed gratitude to France for supporting the neutrality and international initiatives of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited France to take part in the international forum on December 12 in Ashgabat, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
