Turkmenistan to host first ECO ministerial forum on sustainable development, TOPC plans to modernize water infrastructure, Arkadag's opponent in the Challenge League final has been determined and other news

1. In April 2025, the city of Arkadag will host the first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the Economic Cooperation Organization. Participants will discuss practical steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and develop a comprehensive cooperation strategy with the identification of priority areas. Following the meeting, it is planned to adopt an official document.
2. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved a proposal to modernize water infrastructure facilities and systems of the Turkmenbashy oil processing complex. This decision is aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted supply of the complex with the necessary volumes of water for the production process.
3. Preparations are underway in Turkmenistan for the Days of Libyan Culture, the opening ceremony of which will be held at the Museum of Fine Arts of the country. Within the framework of the Days of Culture, an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy, national costumes and dishes of Libya, as well as a book exhibition will be organized. The program of the event also includes excursions for guests to the sights, parks and museums of Ashgabat.

4. Turkmenistan is exploring the possibility of holding a specialized international exhibition "EXPO" on agriculture in the coming years in cooperation with the International Exhibitions Bureau. The initiative proposes to create a special fund for organizing the exhibition and hold negotiations with major international companies.

1. For the first time in the 135 years of the famous Parisian landmark's existence, the names of female scientists will be engraved on the Eiffel Tower. Since the tower was built in 1889, the names of 72 outstanding men of science have been immortalized in gold letters on the second tier, but not a single woman was among them. To restore historical justice, the Parisian authorities decided to add the names of women who made a significant contribution to scientific progress. A special committee has been created to implement the project.
2. ATMs have been installed for the first time in Tuvalu, a remote island nation in the Pacific Ocean. Until now, residents had no access to electronic banking services. Previously, all financial transactions in the country were conducted exclusively in cash. On paydays, employees had to stand in long lines at the bank, which closed at 14:00. Payment for food, hotel accommodation and various services was almost always made with paper money. About 12 thousand people live in Tuvalu. It is expected that about 6 thousand clients will use the new banking technologies.

1. The Turkmen “Arkadag” will face Cambodian club “Svay Rieng” from the city of the same name in the southeast of the country in the AFC Challenge League final. In the second semi-final match of the tournament, the Cambodian team tied with Indonesian “Madura United” (3:3), but advanced to the final thanks to a 3:0 home win. Let us remind that “Arkadag” defeated Kuwaiti “Al-Arabi” 3:0 in the return match of the Challenge League semi-finals on Wednesday at home. The tournament final will be held on May 10 at the “Svay Rieng” stadium, the game will start at 17:00 Ashgabat time.
