The sandstorm that hit Iraq has caused serious health problems for thousands of residents. According to the country's Health Ministry, more than 3700 people were taken to medical facilities with respiratory diseases, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” writes.
"At least 3747 people have been admitted to hospitals in Baghdad and other provinces since Monday," ministry spokesman Saif al-Badr informed the public.
Baghdad was hit the hardest, with 1014 people hospitalized in the capital's hospitals. A significant number of casualties were also recorded in the southern province of al-Muthanna, where 874 residents required medical assistance.
Sandstorms are a common natural phenomenon in Iraq. The local healthcare system has well-established protocols for responding to such situations, allowing doctors to effectively and promptly provide the necessary assistance to victims.
