The Guardian has presented an updated list of professions that allow foreigners to obtain a work visa, and it contains many unexpected specialties. Among them were not only traditional specialists, but also representatives of very specific areas, writes daily.afisha.ru.
A study conducted by Oxford University specialist Robert McNeil from the Center for Migration, Policy and Society revealed interesting statistics. Over the period from 2021 to 2024, more than 330 work visas were issued to specialists working with animals: groomers, dog walkers, grooms, kennel assistants and veterinary paramedics.
It Is noteworthy that the list also included specialists in the healthy lifestyle industry: more than 160 visas were received by fitness instructors, including Pilates and yoga teachers, as well as coaches.
Other unexpected jobs on the list include flight attendants, cemetery managers and even so-called “costume interpreters” – staff at museums and National Trust sites who greet visitors in period costume.
The range of jobs Is particularly interesting given the government’s overall plans to reduce the number of migrant workers. According to McNeil, while these jobs require specific skills and qualifications, they are markedly different from the traditional image of migrant workers in society.
