An important framework agreement on mutual understanding was signed within the framework of the Investment Forum of Turkmenistan TIF – 2024, held in Ashgabat on September 10-11. The individual enterprise Ojar Aziya and the Chinese company Sinohydro Bureau 12 Co., Ltd. agreed to cooperate in the construction of the Serakhs-Mary-Serhetabat highway.

The planned highway, approximately 450 km long, will pass through the territory of the Ahal and Mary velayats of Turkmenistan. The project envisages the creation of a modern 8-lane road 50 meters wide, equipped with special dividers to ensure traffic safety.

Construction will be carried out in accordance with international standards, using modern technologies and materials, including asphalt concrete, synthetic surfaces, geopores and special meshes to improve the quality of the road surface.

The project is planned to be financed by attracting foreign investment. The funds are supposed to be repaid from revenues from the operation of the highway, as well as from the rental of premises and buildings that will be built along the route.

To implement the project, experts and specialists from international consulting companies will be involved, as well as the necessary material and technical resources from abroad.

Currently, a preliminary design for construction has already been prepared and negotiations on financing are underway with international organizations from the UAE, Great Britain, Germany and China.

The implementation of this project is aimed at turning Turkmenistan into an important transport hub in the region and strengthening its role in the international transport and communications system.
