A new trend called airportaesthetic is gaining popularity on social networks. The younger generation finds creative inspiration in the seemingly mundane procedure of baggage inspection, turning it into a kind of art, reports daily.afisha.ru.
The trend is that travelers take photos of their personal belongings neatly arranged in trays before scanning. Instead of a chaotic pile of objects, zoomers create aesthetically pleasing compositions from vintage accessories, fashionable gadgets and literary works.
Not everyone is happy with the new trend, however. Critics say the photo ops can slow down the security process and inconvenience other passengers. Some media outlets, including the New York Post and Metro, have expressed concern, calling it a potential source of irritation at airports.
At the same time, this trend has not gone unnoticed by clothing brands and book publishers, who see it as a new marketing opportunity.
Interestingly, the US Transportation Security Administration is quite lenient about airportaesthetic, not seeing a problem as long as it doesn’t cause delays or inconvenience to other passengers.
However, experts remind us of the hygienic aspects: according to research, screening trays are among the dirtiest surfaces in airports.
