A round table was held in Helsinki with the participation of leading Finnish companies and the Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova. The Finnish side was represented by Director General of “EastCham Finland” Jaana Rekolainen. This was stated in a statement by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in such areas as energy, logistics, transport, water management, innovative technologies and healthcare, etc. were discussed.
The Turkmen delegation proposed establishing cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries and creating a Turkmen-Finnish Business Council. The Finnish side confirmed its interest in developing partnership.
On September 6, Turkmen-Finnish political consultations were held in the building of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where issues of interaction within international organizations, intensification of trade and economic cooperation and establishment of contacts in the sphere of culture and education were discussed. The parties agreed to prepare a legal basis for holding regular consultations between the foreign policy departments of the two countries.
During the visit, meetings were also held with representatives of the Finnish parliament and discussions on the possibilities of establishing inter-parliamentary dialogue.
