The streets of the Indian city of Vadodara in the state of Gujarat were filled with crocodiles after heavy rains and the flooding of the Vishwamitri River. These ancient reptiles were spotted not only on the roads, but also on the roofs of houses, posing a serious threat to local residents, Mail.ru writes with reference to odditycentral.com.
Although the appearance of crocodiles in the city during the monsoon season is not something unusual for residents of coastal areas, this year the situation became critical due to prolonged rainfall. In three days, from August 27 to 29, city services had to catch at least 24 crocodiles.
Karansinh Rajput, a local forestry officer, reported an impressive variety of reptiles caught: from small individuals 60 cm long to giant crocodiles reaching 4.2 meters in length. The latter caused particular concern among the local population.
