The transport and communications complex of Turkmenistan has shown impressive growth in the first seven months of 2024. The overall growth rate of work and services in the sector was 118,1%, which indicates significant progress in the development of the country's transport infrastructure, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
These data were presented at the next meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan by the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications M. Chakiyev. According to him, for the period from January to July 2024, the growth rate of cargo transportation reached 103,9%, and passenger transportation – 103,6%.
The growth in the aviation sector especially stands out: the “Turkmenhowayollary” Agency demonstrated an increase in the volume of services by 153,8%. Other transport agencies also showed positive dynamics:
“Turkmenaragatnashyk” – 113,4%, “Turkmenawtoyollary” – 110,9%, “Turkmendenizderyayollary” – 107,3%, and “Turkmendemiryollary” – 104,8%.
During the meeting, issues of developing the digital economy as part of the implementation of the corresponding concept for 2019-2025, as well as the progress of construction of new transport and communication infrastructure facilities in various regions of the country were also discussed.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after hearing the report, emphasized the need to further improve the work of the transport sector in accordance with modern requirements.
