Some 6 million pieces of sports equipment used during the Paris Olympic Games will find new uses. Among this variety are balls, bleacher seats, prefabricated stages, mattresses, sand for sports fields and much more. Euro-pulse.ru reports this.
Much of the equipment will continue to serve during the Paralympic Games, which start on August 28. However, after the completion of these competitions, the equipment will find new owners.
Thus, sand from beach volleyball courts will be a gift to the city sports club. 14 thousand mattresses from the Olympic village will go to equip the French army, and cardboard bed bases will be recycled. Various sports clubs will receive sports equipment such as tennis balls.
In addition, two swimming pools, a climbing wall and skateboarding parks will be dismantled and moved to the Seine-Saint-Denis suburb to provide new sports opportunities for local residents.
Torches used during the Olympic torch relay, flags and other paraphernalia will be put up for sale as souvenirs.
