The legal dispute between Nike and Adidas over the use of three stripes on clothing received an unexpected continuation. The Düsseldorf Court of Appeal partially upheld Nike's claim, allowing the company to sell four models of trousers with three stripes in Germany. Pravilamag.ru reports this with reference to Reuters.
A trial court ruling that banned the use of stripes on five Nike pants has been overturned.
It is worth noting that the ban on the use of stripes on one of Nike's trouser models remains in effect.
The court ruled that the design of Nike's pants was sufficiently different from Adidas' products to not infringe its trademark.
This decision was the next round in the long-term battle for three stripes. Adidas has long positioned them as its exclusive symbol.
It's worth noting that Nike is not the only competitor with whom Adidas has been in dispute over the use of the three stripes. In the past, the company has sued the “Barcelona” sports club, Tesla, Tom Tailor and others.
