The company Machdyne from Germany introduced Blaustahl, a USB drive that, according to the developers, will last as long as 200 years.
But don't expect huge amounts of memory! Blaustahl has a capacity of only 8 KB, which is equivalent to approximately 8000 characters of text. The flash drive is positioned as a repository for the most valuable data: passwords, cryptocurrency keys, important notes and lists.
The “eternal” Blaustahl flash drive will cost the buyer just under 30 euros. At ambient temperatures up to +35°C, it will last the stated 200 years. If the thermometer rises to +55°C, the service life will be reduced to 95 years.
The developers also took care of compatibility. Blaustahl connects via USB-CDC and does not require additional drivers for most operating systems.
And even if the technology becomes outdated and Blaustahl becomes a rarity, data from it can still be extracted, the creators assure. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru.
