The first round of the Turkmenistan Major Football League of the 2024 season will be held from March 3 to 4. In the opening match of the season, Ashgabat will host Kopetdag in the capital's derby, as follows from the calendar published by the FFT.
The meeting will take place on Sunday, March 3. The time and place of the match will be announced later.
At the end of the 2023 season, Ashgabat took 5th place in the Major League standings, gaining 30 points. Kopetdag finished the year in sixth place, with 28 points.
It is worth noting that the bulk of the matches of the first round fell on March 4. The following pairs will meet on the field:
- “Altyn Asyr” – “Shagadam”
- “Nebitchi” – “Merv”
- “Ahal” – “Energetik”
Last year's champion, FC Arkadag, will miss the first round. Vladimir Bayramov’s team will play their first match in the new season of the Turkmenistan championship on March 7 in the second round against the vice-champion Altyn Asyr.
