Russian Railways (RZD) plans to open a representative office in Turkmenistan, TASS writes.

According to the source, during the visit to Ashgabat, the Russian Railways delegation held a meeting with representatives of the Turkmendemiryollary (Turkmen Railways) agency. The parties discussed the development of transportation along the international transport corridor (ITC) "North-South" and the implementation of infrastructure projects, which include the reconstruction of a carriage repair plant in the city of Gyzylarbat and the opening of a new intercity route Ashgabat - Arkadag, along which a regional passenger express will run.

It is noted that the opening of a representative office of Russian Railways will create conditions for strengthening fruitful Turkmen-Russian relations in the field of transport.

– In 2022, Russian Railways and the Turkmendemiryollary agency signed a cooperation program for 2023-2025. It involves large-scale interaction between the parties. It is planned that Russian Railways will assist in training specialists, digitalization of production processes, work in the field of logistics for the development of transport corridors, including international ones, as well as the electrification of Turkmen railways, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Alexander Elizarov told TASS.
