Nike has filed a lawsuit against two of its competitors, New Balance and Skechers, accusing them of infringing a patent on the technology for producing the upper part of Flyknit sneakers. TASS reports this.
Nike's lawsuits, filed in California and Massachusetts district courts, allege that New Balance and Skechers used Flyknit technology without the copyright holder's permission.
Nike is seeking financial damages from the defendants, as well as measures to prevent future patent infringement.
Nike's allegations include New Balance's Fresh Foam and FuelCell lines, as well as Skechers' Ultra Flex and Glide Step models.
New Balance said in a statement that it respects competitors' intellectual property rights, but does not believe Nike has the exclusive right to design and manufacture shoes using similar technologies that have been used in the industry for decades.
