In the city of Phoenix, Arizona, the first completely car-free area appeared, write “Argumenty i Fakty”.
The area called Kuldesak is for pedestrians only. There are no parking lots or asphalt roads, and the houses have no more than three floors. You can move around the area on foot or by bicycle.
Walls made of light stone and the compact arrangement of the houses provide a comfortable temperature in the area and in the rooms even in the summer, when the heat outside is 50 degrees.
The population of the Kuldesak region is still small. Soon, 700 apartments will be occupied, and subsequently the suburb of Phoenix will turn into a full-fledged city.
