1. The readiness of the President of the Republic of Iraq to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan in the near future was noted during a meeting in Baghdad between the Prime Minister of this country, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and the Turkmen delegation, which was headed by the Minister of State, Chairman of the “Turkmengas” State Concern Maksat Babayev. It was noted that at the meeting, the head of the Iraqi government noted the readiness and desire of his country to develop comprehensive and mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan, where the energy component will become one of the main areas of bilateral partnership interaction. Let us remind that during negotiations with the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the Ministry of Electricity of the Republic of Iraq. In addition, it was reported that Iraq is ready to annually accept Turkmen natural gas in the amount of about 10 billion cubic meters.

2. The 40th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the Turkic International Cultural Organization TURKSOY will be held on October 13-14. According to the accepted procedure, the work done by TURKSOY will be discussed at the meeting, tasks for 2024 will be identified and appropriate decisions will be made. One of the important decisions that will be made at the meeting will be the transfer of the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” to Anau.

3. The final round of the competition among embroiderers was held in Ashgabat, in which craftswomen from all over Turkmenistan took part. The competition was held in three categories: preparatory part of the work, choice of pattern, demonstration of finished embroidered products. The jury assessed every detail, down to the position of the fabric on the knees and the ability to hold the needle correctly. As a result, the Grand Prix of the competition was won by craftswomen from Ahal velayat.

4. Representatives of Turkmenistan participated in the 6th international transport and logistics business forum New Silk Way, held in Astana. Deputy General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communications Batyr Annayev spoke about the development and modernization of transport communications in the country. It was noted that Turkmenistan, having established cargo flights to Vietnam, the Republic of Korea and Italy, plans to expand air traffic with the countries of Asia and Europe.

5. This year, 13 new countries took part in the meeting of the General Assembly Prix Italia 2023, among which was Turkmenistan, in particular a delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography. Within the framework of the festival, bilateral meetings were held with the leadership of European television companies and Turkmenistan. Turkmen representatives also took part in the closing ceremony of the festival, at the end of which, according to tradition, awards were presented.

7. A new profession has appeared in Germany - a loneliness specialist. The first such specialized psychologist will start working in 2024 in Berlin. According to the Berlin municipality, every tenth resident of the German capital feels lonely. This is especially true for older people. The search for a candidate for a new position is currently underway. He must have a higher education in communications and at least two years of experience in the social sector.

On the night of October 8, Ashgabat time, Turkmen mixed martial arts fighter Dovletjan Yagshimuradov defeated Polish representative Maciej Rozanski within the framework of the Bellator 300 tournament in California. The light heavyweight fight lasted all three rounds and ended with the victory of the representative of Turkmenistan by unanimous decision. For 34 years old Yagshimuradov, this victory was the third in a row in Bellator. Now he has 21 victories, seven defeats and one draw in mixed martial arts.

9. The rescheduled match of the 15th round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship among Major League clubs was held in Ashgabat. The local capital club hosted “Merv” on the field of the “Kopetdag” stadium. 10. Turkmen athletes won 7 medals at the XIX Summer Asian Games in Hangzhou, which were held from September 23 to October 8. The prestigious competition brought together about 15 thousand participants from 45 countries. The Turkmenistan national team at the Asian Games was represented by 67 athletes who brought 1 silver and six bronze medals to the team’s treasury. Tejen Tejenov, master of sports of international class in kurash wrestling, won silver in the weight category over 90 kg. The bronze medalists were: judoka Maysa Pardayeva, kurashists Aynur Amanova and Ishanmyrat Atayev, boxer Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov, freestyle wrestler Dovletmurad Orazgylyjov and karateka Bayry Bayryev (up to 67 kg).

11. “Ahal” defender Hakmuhammed Bashimov has been called up to the main national team of Turkmenistan for the first time. Previously, the player played for junior and youth teams. The 23 years old football player will take part in the team’s autumn training camp in Dubai. The national team of Turkmenistan, in preparation for the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, will hold two friendly matches against clubs from the UAE championship. Bashimov has been playing for “Ahal” since January 2023. On September 19, the defender made his debut in the AFC Champions League in a match with “Al-Feiha” and scored an assist on Elman Tagayev.
