Turkmenistan celebrates 30 years of cooperation with the United Nations. In honor of this date, an exhibition was organized in the country, which presented the achievements of Turkmen culture, including those included in the UNESCO list of intangible heritage of humanity, the WORLD 24 portal reports.
The exhibition presents products of Turkmen craftswomen who preserve and develop the traditional art of embroidery. Visitors can also learn about the ancient musical instrument dutar and the ancient dance “Kushtdepdi”. This year, the Zarafshan-Karakum Silk Road Corridor and the unique desert ecosystems of Turkmenistan were also added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustemova noted that the preservation and study of national heritage is one of the priorities of the country’s foreign and domestic policy.
