The Qatar High Committee for Projects and Heritage has announced plans to dispose of 173 tons of promotional items used during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, reported "Xinhua" news agency.
Polyester materials previously used as wraps, banners and fencing in stadiums and other venues will be recycled into plastic pellets by Saudi Top Plastics.
This decision is an important step towards protecting the environment. Polyester is one of the most difficult materials to decompose, and its disposal under traditional conditions can lead to environmental pollution.
