The Russian government at a regular meeting on Thursday will consider an initiative that will simplify the procedure for obtaining a residence permit in the Russian Federation for foreign students, TASS reports. According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, this “draft law is aimed at simplifying the procedure for the stay (residence) of foreign citizens and stateless persons who have arrived in the Russian Federation for the purpose of studying (studying in the Russian Federation) on a full-time basis in a state educational institution of higher education or state scientific organization of the Russian Federation located on the territory of the Russian Federation”.
At the moment, foreign students receive a temporary residence permit in Russia on a general basis within the quota established by the government.
