Issues related to the modernization of the Energy Charter Treaty, the impact of the global agenda on world energy markets, and plans for further interaction within the framework of reputable organizations were discussed at online talks held today at the Ministry of foreign Affairs with the Secretary General of the Energy Charter, Urban Rusnak.

The meeting was attended by the Adviser to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues, heads and specialists of a number of ministries and departments, including the Ministry of foreign Affairs, Finance and economy, justice, energy, as well as state concerns "Türkmengaz" and "Türkmennebit".

During the talks, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of international cooperation in the energy sector. International legal regulation of energy transit was identified as one of the priorities of the Energy Charter, which today unites dozens of countries in Europe and Asia. In this context, the importance of the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to guarantee the reliability and security of energy supplies to world markets, as enshrined in the relevant Resolutions of the UN General Assembly, was emphasized.

As noted, the global nature of energy problems has put the energy factor among the basic elements of Turkmen diplomacy. Its important vector was the participation of Turkmenistan as a major supplier of energy resources in the formation of a new architecture of global energy security, which is an integral component of universal sustainable development.

One of the key aspects of our country's energy strategy is to diversify and expand the geography of natural gas exports. Based on this, major projects are being implemented in the field of creating a multi-variant gas transportation system.

In this regard, Turkmenistan welcomes the work of the Energy Charter Secretariat to integrate regional energy markets in order to achieve long-term stability and sustainability in the field of energy, to ensure broad access of consumers to economically profitable, environmentally friendly energy resources through the creation of appropriate infrastructure.

Highly appreciating the contribution of our state to the development of the international energy dialogue, Urban Rusnak stressed that Turkmenistan's active participation in the Energy Charter contributes to strengthening the country's position on the Euro-Asian energy platform, where there is a huge potential for cooperation, the State news Agency reports.
