Representatives from Turkmenistan took part in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2026 Football Technology Conference, which concluded on Thursday in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Turkmenistan was represented at the international conference by Rovshen Meredov, Technical Director of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, and Shohrat Arjanov, a representative of the FFT.

According to the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, the event, dedicated to the introduction of innovative solutions in Asian football and strengthening technological capabilities, was distinguished by its large scale and comprehensive program. Representatives of football associations – members of the AFC, professional leagues, FIFA, CONCACAF, AFC regional associations, as well as leading global companies – suppliers of football technologies – took part in its work.

Over the course of three days, conference participants discussed new trends in the industry, the potential of digital tools, and the contribution of technology to the development of football both on and off the field.

Welcoming the participants, AFC Secretary General Dato' Seri Windsor John noted that technology has become an integral part of modern football, and the potential of digital tools extends far beyond the pitch, transforming every aspect of the game. He stated that the discussions held at the conference will shape the future of football and ensure Asia remains at the forefront of innovation.

On the first day of the conference, participants were given an overview of AFC competitions and told about the work on integrating technology into the organization of tournaments. FIFA Manager for Football Technology Partnerships Tom Parkinson also gave a presentation on the FIFA Football Product Quality Program. Leading industry partners showcased solutions for competition organization, player performance enhancement, refereeing, broadcast production, and game analysis.

On the second day, the 2026 FIFA World Cup took center stage, serving as a showcase for analyzing the latest technological developments. Participants also learned about the Football Video Support system, tactical cameras, and referee body cameras during demonstrations.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion featuring experts from the AFC, FIFA, and CONCACAF, which focused on the role of technology in football, the importance of cooperation between confederations, and the prospects for the development of global football.
