Turkmen weightlifter Atabek Azamatov won a silver medal in the 60 kg weight category among young men at the Asian Weightlifting Championships, which is being held in Tashkent.
After two lifts, the athlete lifted 245 kg, finishing behind the winner, Jerick Ikon Castro of the Philippines, who lifted 260 kg. Filipino athlete Kirby Kent Alas-Ace also won a bronze medal with 243 kg.
In the snatch, Azamatov lifted 113 kg and took second place, earning a small silver medal. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 132 kg, placing fifth in that event.

The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships are taking place in Tashkent, bringing together over 300 athletes from 29 countries in the region. The competition runs until August 14. According to the rules of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), athletes can compete in two age categories simultaneously: Youth (under 17) and Junior (under 20).
The Turkmenistan team is represented at the tournament by 16 athletes – seven boys and nine girls.
