In China, more than a million residents of the country's eastern provinces, including Shanghai, were evacuated due to Typhoon “Dolphin”. The storm made landfall twice in Zhejiang province - in Yuhuan County and the city of Wenzhou - with wind speeds of up to 150 km/h, writes the BBC.

The typhoon paralyzed transportation: 1400 flights were canceled in Shanghai alone. The previously highest alert level was downgraded to a tropical storm by Monday morning, but authorities are warning of the risk of heavy rain, flooding, and landslides through Wednesday.

Around 900 thousand people were evacuated in Wenzhou, and around 390 thousand in Taizhou. In Shanghai, some streets in the historic center were flooded, and several tourist attractions, including parts of Disneyland and Legoland, were closed. A nine-year-old boy was reported missing after being washed out to sea; no official death toll has been confirmed in China.

Before reaching China, the typhoon passed through the Philippines, Taiwan, and Okinawa. Eight people died in the Philippines, and more than 7 thousand residents were evacuated.
