The Football Federation of Kazakhstan has reached an agreement with Dutch coach John van 't Schip to appoint him head coach of the national team. This was reported on the organization's website.

The specialist's appointment will be formalized after approval by the federation's executive committee. The Dutchman will replace local specialist Talgat Baysufinov, who resigned in June.

As a footballer, van 't Schip played for “Ajax” Amsterdam and “Genoa” in Italy, and also played for the Netherlands national team, with whom he won the 1988 European Championship. He began his coaching career at “Ajax” and later managed “Twente”, PEC “Zwolle”, Mexican side “Guadalajara”, and Australian side “Melbourne City”. Internationally, he coached the Greek and Armenian national teams.

The Kazakhstan national team finished the World Cup qualifying tournament in second-to-last place in its group and failed to qualify for the World Championship.
