Nicaragua joined the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, established at the initiative of Turkmenistan under the auspices of the UN.

The Group currently unites 30 UN member states representing various regions of the world, demonstrating growing international support for the principles of neutrality as an effective tool for strengthening peace, trust, and international cooperation, according to the website of Turkmenistan's Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.

The Group of Friends of Neutrality, created at the initiative of Turkmenistan in 2020, is an international platform for promoting broad multilateral dialogue on the practical application of the policy of neutrality, preventive diplomacy, mediation, confidence-building and peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter.

The Group holds regular meetings at the level of permanent representatives to the UN in New York, as well as annual meetings at the level of foreign ministers, facilitating the exchange of experience and the development of joint approaches to strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development.
